Car Events 2014 – The Avenue Breakfast Club Bristol 9th March

Opel GT

Today saw us out on our first car event of the 2014 season and it has been a long time coming. Wet miserable weather in 2014 has slowed things right down but today the sunshine came out and banished the horrible weather and allowed us to get a great first car event under way. Click here for more photos. And click here for a slideshow from the day. Finally, Check out The Avenue Driver’s Club Here.

Hot Rod

The Avenue is a square in Bristol where classic  and unusual cars meet up, so that others can see them , photograph them and enjoy them. A couple of cafes open early too so that breakfast can be enjoyed. We drove down from Malvern in our Opel GT to meet up with some old pals from the MINI community, Kev (Jaffa Racer) and Carol and Paul (Minisoopercooper).  Kev arrived in a swish JCW MINI and Paul was in WAC his classic A35. The Opel GT was right at home on the square and certainly got his fair share of attention and admiration. Continue reading

Our 2014 European Road Trip

Last year we had a number of European Road trips, with our main one being our trip around Italy following the route of the Mille Miglia race and you can catch up on that trip here. It was a stunning journey and we enjoyed every minute of it. Later in the year we had a smaller road trip which involved holidaying in Port Cogolin in the South of France and then driving to Venice to spend three nights in that most wonderful of cities. This year then we have planned a trip that will combine a bit from both of these trips, with a few other exciting events, to make what for us promises to be a very exciting trip indeed. Midlands Breakfast Club – December 2013

We had gone to my Mum’s near Chester on Saturday and stayed over, so Sunday morning saw us undertake a rather enjoyable one hour cross country dash to RAF Cosford near Wolverhampton. This was for a Midlands Breakfast Club  which we were going to with Yam MINI. We were running a little late but still got parked with the rest of the Yam crew on what was a very cold morning. ClubBeast – Quick Pic

ClubBeast

We went into Great Malvern on Monday night to do some shooting with our Fuji X-E1 for the sister site PhotoBeast, but of course we could not resist grabbing a quick shot of ClubBeast while we were there. He’s over five years old now and he’s been in a lot of scrapes over the years – new clutch, new gearbox, new turbo – but he also has a lot of European tours under his belt and we have had a lot of fun in him. You know you love a car when you walk away from it after parking, click the remote to lock it but you have to look back for a cheeky peak at him, bit like you turn your head when you walk past a pretty girl! ClubBeast is still that kind of a car! And before you say anything yes, I always look back when Lady Peanut walks past!

SilverBeast Gets His Red A-Panels

All of our cars have common features, they all have a 500 on their number plate and they all have their own number BP500 -1, 2, 3 and 4. BP for Beastie and peanut, 500 as on the number plate and 1,2,3 or 4 depending on which car it is.. The MINIs all have one more common feature, they all have A-panels in the same colour as the roof. Cooper Beast is red with a white roof and white A-Panels, ClubBeast is Pepper white with a black roof and A-Panels and now finally SilverBeast has the look too, being silver white with a red roof and A-panels. Just in time for our forthcoming roadtrip to France and Italy, where we drive the 1000 mile route of the Mille Miglia road race. Continue reading
