Car Events 2016.Welsh Mini Group Raglan Meet. Sunday 6th November

As a treat now that all the work at home is done we joined up with the Welsh Mini Group for their Raglan meet. It was a gorgeous morning, bright and crisp and driving to the rendezvous was a joy with the bright autumn colours. Our meeting point was The Steel Horse Cafe which is a favourite with bikers in mid Wales. We started with hot drinks enjoyed outside in the sunshine while we chatted. We then moved inside for breakfast.

This is no greasy spoon with everything from a variety of baked goodies including muffins to a full English or pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. The Cafe was warm and decorated with biking photos, boxes for storing helmets and a cosy wood burner. Once we had finished we had a short run to Raglan Castle where we parked up for photos. It was becoming cloudy and the sunshine had by now given way to a bitterly cold wind, so it wasn’t an ideal day for seeing the castle. As we were both cold we soon took off for home.  It was great to have a catch up with the lovely people on WMG.

Car Events 2016 – LUXEMINI at The MINI Reading Dealership

Saturday had been a busy day for us and Sunday turned out to be more of the same.

We got up at school time and were out of the door at 8.30 in order to be at Reading MINI for a get together with fellow MINI fanatics at an event organised by LUXE MINI.

We have made a lot of new friends in the MINI community as a direct result of being in the Welsh MINI group and we enjoy meeting these people once again as well as old, old friends from the MINI scene such as Andy, who now rides a wicked looking black F56 MINI JCW. Coffee, tea, pastries and burgers were provided by LUXE MINI, which was very kind of them, as they did all they could to ensure it was an enjoyable day for everyone. In truth beautiful sunshine all day ensured this.

Car Events 2016 – Prescott Hill Climb American Classic Event

Saturday afternoon saw us at Prescott Hill Climb for an American Classic Event.

Unfortunately the weather was not brilliant with spells of lovely sunshine mixed with periods of rain. We walked about and in truth there were not that many American Classics on show. However, there was an eclectic mix of cars that allowed Chrissie to grab a few interesting photographs.  Continue reading

An early start saw us at Cardiff West Services at 9.30 to meet the Welsh Mini Group on Facebook for a MINI run followed by a pub Sunday lunch. A smashing group of people turned up, old old chums such as Andy and Aston & Debs to new pals such as Lewis, Sue, Denise and Morgan. It was a lovely mix of people resulting in a great drive, a lovely lunch and some wonderful socialising. Put simply it’s the MINI life. Continue reading

The 19th saw us at The Mega MINI Meet at Lytham St Anne’s with the GP UK Owners Club. We have seen this stand many times over the years at various meet and have long wanted to have our own GP on the stand. Ten years later and its job done and we were made very welcome by all the guys on the stand. This is a friendly laid back meet and we enjoyed it a lot. The GP had great fun on its ride up from Malvern and it was good to see him finally on his proper number plates.

Car Events 2016 – Pistonheads SS at The Aston Martin Factory May 2016

The Floating Aston© Beastmaster 2016

Sunday the 22nd May saw us wake to glorious sunshine. This was good as we were off to the Aston Martin factory at Gaydon with about 350 other car fans from the Pistonheads website. Gaydon is a lovely cross country drive for us here in Malvern via Evesham and Stratford upon Avon. We dropped the roof on the Opel GT and had a lovely drive over being serenaded by bird song all the way.

There was lots to see and some beautiful Astons to drool over as well as the 350 odd Pistonheads motors. Classic Peugeot 205 1.9GTI’s were to be seen and iconic old school Volkswagen Golf GTI’s. Classic Porsche 911s were there and at least three beautiful mid engined Renault Clio V6’s.

We grabbed the obligatory bacon and sausage bap in the canteen and shot about two hundred photos between us for good measure. Yep it was a smashing morning all round.

Here are a few of our photos from the day.
